 Biography 

 

1957    

Born the eldest son of the Chief Priest of a Buddhist temple in Odawara, Japan.
    
1979  

Graduated from Keio University, faculty of law with a major in political science. Studied ancient-NARA period in Japan (AD.710~794).
  
1979    

Practiced Zen at Manpuku-ji Tenple in Kyoto.
  
1980  

Began work as a chef at a vegetarian restaurant.
  
1980  

Began work as a ceramic artist.
  
1985    

Served as a counselor at an international peace and youth leadership camp in New York state, at the invitation on of the Louis Jonas Foundation.
 

 

1991

Became the 18th Chief Priest of the 300 year-old Jigen-ji Temple.
 

1991  

Founds Gallery and Café KU.
  
1994    

Commences joint project with renownedchefs of Japanese, French, Italian and Chinese cuisine, inviting to Jigen-ji Temple or visiting their restaurant, and serve their cuisine on tableware which Jin creates for occasions. 

 

 

2001

Invited by the Japanese Consul General in San Francisco to present original vegetarian cuisine in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the San Francisco Peace Treaty.
  
2013

Retired as the Chief Priest of the Jigen-ji Temple, passing the role to his eldest son.
